2018 Brooks Robinson High School Senior All-Star Game Oriole Park at Camden Yards June 17, 2018 With a four run outburst in the 5th inning to retake the lead, the South held on to beat the North 6-5 in the 37 th annual Brooks Robinson High School Senior All-Star Game, played at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on June 17, 2018. After Cameron Clark of Severna Park led off the home half of the first inning with a ground ball double down the right field line, the South took a quick 2-0 lead behind a RBI single by Kody Milton of Severna Park and a 2-out RBI double by Peter Godrick of Archbishop Spalding. Meanwhile, the South starter, Marcus Brown of Riverdale Baptist, who would be named the South’s Most Outstanding Pitcher, held the North at bay with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts. Joe Seidler of Chesapeake kept the shutout intact, also pitching two scoreless innings. Named the North’s Most Outstanding Pitcher, Austin Koehn of Patterson Mill entered the game in the bottom of the 2nd inning and notched three strikeouts in his two scoreless innings. Cameron Bratton of Allegany followed, pitching a perfect 4th inning with a strikeout. Batting in the top of the 5 th inning trailing 2-0, the North loaded the bases with two outs with a hit batter, Walkersville’s Christian Policelli’s second single of the game, and a walk. Trent Gast-Woodard of Archbishop Curley promptly cleared the bases with a 2-run single to center, with the third run scoring on an error, to give the North a 3-2 lead. The North’s lead was short-lived as the South used three walks, a single by Cameron Hyder of Reservoir, and RBI singles by Cameron Clark and Kody Milton to plate four runs to take a 6-3 lead. The following inning, the North had three consecutive singles by Nathanael Hibbs of Century, Brady Pearre of Poolesville, and Jalen March of Archbishop Curley, to score two runs to cut the South’s advantage to one. However with two runners on in the 7th, the South’s Tyler Green of Northeast extinguished hopes for a North comeback to earn the save. Century’s Jeremy Lapp-Barger closed the game for the North with two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. With three hits, Cameron Clark of Severna Park was named the South’s Most Valuable Player, while Christian Policelli of Walkersville had two hits and was named the North’s Most Valuable Player. Ethan Kiple of Century also had two hits for the North. Others collecting hits in the game were Ryan Haddaway of Poolesville, Sebastian Mieses of Bethesda-Chevy Chase, and Corey Rosier of Riverdale Baptist. Despite the loss, the North still leads the series, 19-15-2, with one game, 2006, washed out by rain after two innings.
